Start with the catalog

Use search and filters for category, style, theme, gender, features, and body support to identify the exact armor set you want.

1. Open the armor card and inspect its thumbnail and tags.
2. Open the mod page to review every available option.
3. Note the author and mod name. Be prepared to search by these names.

Using Tailor

Tailor is best when you want to play with character hair options, assemble an outfit with pieces from multiple outfits, explore modular looks easily, or save multiple outfits for different circumstances.

Pros: outfit-focused organization, easier repeat use, and a better workflow for consistent character wardrobes.

Tradeoffs: it may take more setup, and a saved outfit can still contain clipping or incompatible pieces if the underlying equipment is not checked. The add-on also requires you to know the name of the .esp that owns the armor piece, making it clunky to search for items.

1. Open Tailor (F7) while pointing at the NPC you are interested in.
2. Create a new outfit.
3. Preview the outfit in real time and make modifications.
4. Save the outfit with a clear name, such as “Court,” “Travel,” or “Battle.”

Using Dress Up

Use Dress Up to see an outfit quickly on an NPC without adding items or trading.

1. Equip the “Dress Up” ability via Magic.
2. Cast it on an NPC and select the armor you want to place on them.
3. Cast it again on an NPC and use the Other Apparel → Strip function to reset their armor.
4. Cast it with no target to place the items directly in your inventory.

Using Modex

Use Modex when you know what you want and need a fast, searchable way to add the actual pieces of one or more sets.

1. Hit DELETE to open Modex and navigate to “Add Item.”
2. Use the search bar at the top to find the item.
3. Select each item you want. You can drag across multiple items or Ctrl-click to select multiple items.
4. Right-click and select “Add Selection to Inventory.”
5. Use the items for yourself or your companions.
